My work for this project explores psychological control and its impact on behaviour, thoughts and feelings through collage, oil paintings and mixed media.
I love to experiment with automatic painting when expressing emotion, and so I created a series of dancers that you can see in this portfolio. They are painted over adverts of women carrying out traditional roles.
The artists that inspire me most are Ithell Coulqhoun, Leonora Carrington, Dorothea Tanning and Frida Kahlo. These women were surrealist artists who painted about their life and experiences, spirituality and human emotion. Most of all they have taught me to be bold and brave, whatever life throws at you.

These images are a mixture of experiments, and historic commissions.
I love to create portraits and to experiment with collage and media. I break all the rules and spray soft pastel dust into wet oil paint. I make things up as I go along and see what happens. Absolute joy.
These are screen prints from my series entitled Boxed.
When you view her, she is aware you are looking, but only in her subconscious; just like in life when you know that everyone who sees you makes some kind of judgement.
